Vaca freshman football wins big

Vacaville's freshman football team had to move its home game to Napa because of wet grounds and still came away with a 31-6 win. Vacaville used its own chain gang, pylons and goal post wraps and felt right at home on the road in the MEL opener. The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 overall.

Jared Paulin had touchdown runs of 15 and 82 yards, finishing with 153 yards for the game. Nic Ardave had a 16-yard touchdown run and Jimmy Cheechov raced 13 yards for a score. Ardave added a touchdown pass to Cheechov for 92 yards.

Cade Weiss intercepted two passes. Kenyon Clay and Jaden Grotke led the defense.

Vacaville improved to 4-1 overall. The Bulldogs will host Vintage next Thursday.
