EL DORADO HILLS  Two blocked punts led to two scoring drives as Oak Ridge High School's  football team pulled away in the second half for a 28-14 win over visiting Vacaville on Friday  night. Vacaville fell to 2-2. Oak Ridge improved to 5-0 under head coach Eric Cavaliere, a graduate  of Vacaville High. The Trojans scored twice in the third quarter off the blocked punts. Jacob Sipes ran 6 yards  for a touchdown with 6:40 left in the third period. He went 18 yards for a score with 4:39  remaining in the period. The fourth quarter was scoreless. "The two blocked punts put them inside the 20-yard line and that was it," Vacaville head  coach Mike Papadopoulos said. "They had a good scheme and moved the ball well." Vacaville scored twice in the second quarter as the teams went into halftime tied 14-14.  David Mewborn had a 3-yard touchdown run with 6:41 left in the second period and added  another with 16 seconds left before the half on a 19-yard run. Alberto Escobedo kicked both  extra points. "The offense moved the ball well but a couple of penalties broke up drives," Papadopoulos  said. "Our defense was pretty solid for the most part." Oak Ridge went up 7-0 in the first quarter on a touchdown pass from Ian Book to Adam  Walker. The Trojans scored again late in the second quarter when Sipes hit Trent Buenzli  with a 5-yard touchdown pass. Vacaville outrushed Oak Ridge 246 to 222. Both teams had 78 yards passing. Both teams  also lost two fumbles and Oak Ridge gave up an interception, hauled in by Vacaville's  Drew Chitwood. David Mewborn was the Bulldogs rushing leader with 98 yards on 13 carries. His brother,  Daniel, carried 16 times for 69 yards. Kane Cunningham had all five receptions for the 78  yards. Tanner Hughes set the pace for Oak Ridge's offense, rushing 13 times for 111 yards.  Buenzli caught four passes for 45 yards. The Bulldogs will try and regroup next week when they host Deer Valley of Antioch. Oak Ridge 28 Vacaville 14
